Ways to Show God’s Love This Christmas
Are you reflecting Jesus’ love with your actions this season?
The exciting season of hustling and bustling is approaching soon and like many, you’re probably already decorating the beautiful Christmas tree in your living room, planning for that perfect Christmas celebration and rushing into malls to grab the latest gifts of the racks. Unfortunately, the world gets so wrapped up in buying things that we often lose sight of who and what Christmas is really about. Christmas is the best opportunity to be a living testimony of the love of Jesus to the entire world. Let the world see Jesus through your life and actions. Seek to love others and share with them the true meaning of Christmas. Here is a list of ways to focus on others and bless them with the love of God this special season.
- Invite someone over for a Christmas dinner
- Pay for someone’s meal/drinks
- Volunteer
- Christmas cards-handwritten notes to your loved ones
- Bake to bless others
- Smile-it goes a long way
- Invite someone to your Christmas celebration in church
- Donate pre-loved items to charities (e.g. Salvation Army)
- Donate money to charities
- Forgive
- Babysit while parents run errands
- Sing Christmas Carols at the hospital, nursing homes or at individual homes
- Visit those who are lonely
- Remember the unsung heroes
- Praying with or for someone
It is more blessed to give than to receive. As we approach this season of giving, let us not forget those around us, those who has helped us and those who are in need of help.
“My idea of Christmas, whether old-fashioned or modern, is very simple: loving others. Come to think of it, why do we have to wait for Christmas to do that?”— Bob Hope
Don’t just wait for Christmas to show Christ’s love to the world. Christmas gives us the perfect opportunity to love and help others but what we do during Christmas shouldn’t just stop when the year ends but it should fuel us into continuing to bless others throughout the entire year. Kindness comes in various shapes, sizes and forms. Small acts of kindness certainly makes a difference to society and despite not being able to change the entire world, you might change that person’s entire world.
We should reflect Christ through our actions. As the Matt 4:16 clearly states, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Let all you do be for the glory of God!
